I really didn’t know what to expect with the “Field Truck” project with having many limitations to keep it looking stock with nothing fancy, making all aspects “NOT” look perfect and having everything hidden away. I was was very nervous when we decided to use 4” components, 8” subwoofers and with Bluetooth signal as a source without any modifications to the vehicle at all. Well it’s pretty much completed besides tossing the dash pad and bench seat back in but WOW ….. I’m overly impressed with the tune Scott and I did on it to bring everything together. These little 8’s play so tight and low while the components add an unbelievable soundstage beyond the mirrors and onto the hood. With the limited dimensions of the sub enclosure due to the fact one limitation was having the seat moved all the way back and be within the back of the seat width, I added external bracing that not only stops any chances of panel flex but keeps the seats vinyl from touching the subwoofers…. to give the added 1/4” of space, I used 1/2” on the back side of the enclosure knowing that I was going to adhere it to back of the trucks cab to utilize the shaped metal to add rigidity to the backside (zero flex in this small enclosure). This is honestly one of the best sounding vehicles I’ve gotten to build.
Focal K2 4” components front and rear, JL Bluetooth controller, JL TWK, JL ch amplifier, Kenwood 8” subs.
